. . . . And now for the Grand Finale -- the Academy of Scientists!!!!!

1. You have been assigned a scientist. Research the life of your person.

  • The teacher must approve your selection prior to beginning the work. No two students in the same class will have the same scientist.
  • You may use dictionaries, encyclopedias, the internet, books, almanacs, etc.
  • Plan your time wisely. The due dates for this project are May 4th and 5th.

2. Complete a poster about their life which contains all of the following information. (30%)

  • A creative title that can be read from across the room.
  • A large picture of the person. (This may be neatly drawn or printed from the internet.)
  • At least three additional pictures that are related to this person’s life. (These may be neatly drawn or printed from the internet.)
  • A large map with labels showing where the person lived during his or her life. (This may be neatly drawn or printed from the internet.)
  • A timeline of the person’s life with at least 6 significant life events.
  • Neatly printed (or typed) information about his or her parents. (25 words or more)
  • Neatly printed (or typed) information about the person’s education. (25 words or more)
  • Neatly printed (or typed) information about the person’s scientific work. (50 words or more)

3. Create an artifact that represents some aspect of the person’s work. (30%)

  • The artifact must be hand-made by you.
  • It must be something related to the scientific work of your person.
  • It must be a three dimensional object, not Just A Picture.
  • It must show the use of your creativity and significant effort.

4. Make a presentation dressed as the person. (40%)

  • Total time should not exceed 3 minutes.
  • You must have both the poster and the artifact.
  • You must use the skeleton script that will be discussed in class.
